Thank you for visiting my personal web page and taking the time to learn a little more about me and my work.
After struggling through elementary and high school in my hometown of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, I went on to attend the University of Windsor (Ontario, Canada) where I received my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Philosophy in 2008 and then Master’s in Philosophy in 2011.
In September 2011, I started my PhD in Philosophy within the ArgLab at IFLNOVA, which I completed 4 years and 2 weeks later. My dissertation used contemporary models of practical reasoning and argumentation to analyze and assess the decision making of a Norwegian mass murderer. Doing so highlighted some weaknesses in the existing models, which I argued were improved upon via a new integrated model of practical reasoning and argumentation that includes an assessment of both the moral and practical components of the decision-making process.
Today, I use the knowledge I have gained and developed in practical reasoning in my teaching at the Ted Rogers School of Management in Toronto Metropolitan University to teach both decision making and ethics to undergraduate students.
My current research is divided into two broad streams. In argumentation, I am currently interested in the concept of agreement and its manifestations. But I have also reignited research begun during my Master’s research that focuses on moral and ethical issues involving youth and children, which has resulted in 3 peer-reviewed publications discussing youth and epistemic injustice.
Thanks again for stopping by and please feel free to check out my C.V. and Publications for some of the work I've done. You can also check out my departmental page, HERE.
And, of course, don't hesitate to Contact Me with any thoughts, ideas, or questions.
With best wishes,
Michael
